
Event Highlights
The ICAR–All India Coordinated Research Project on Spices (AICRP on Spices) at ICAR–Indian Institute of Spices Research (ICAR-IISR), Kozhikode, Kerala, conducted a training programme titled "Technological Solutions for Sustainable Spice Production and Processing" for the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA), Meghalaya, from 23–27 September 2024.
The programme provided comprehensive insights into innovative spice cultivation and processing, featuring expert-led sessions on the economics of spice production, high-yielding varieties for the North Eastern Himalayan (NEH) region, organic farming practices, and bio-intensive plant health management, along with hands-on training in sustainable cultivation, processing technologies, and value addition.
Participants also visited the Spices Board and leading spice extraction industries in Kochi, including Plant Lipids Private Limited and Akay Group Private Limited , where they interacted with officials and gained practical exposure to large-scale production, processing, and marketing systems.
